Privacy Policy
Ottawa West Family Law recognizes and is committed to the importance of privacy, confidentiality and the sensitivity of personal information.
Basic Information We have a professional obligation as lawyers to collect and retain basic information about all parties who contact us. This basic information is kept private and confidential at all times.
Information Collected as a Client We collect, use and disclose personal information when providing legal services and managing the client-lawyer relationship. When the client retains the firm and provides personal information, the client consents to the collection, use and disclosure of the client’s personal information when providing legal services and managing the client-lawyer relationship. If the client wishes to withdraw consent, the client is required to do so in writing.
Pursuant to the Rules of Professional Conduct, the client’s personal information is kept in strict confidence unless the client authorizes such disclosure, required by the law or a court order, required by the Law Society, on reasonable grounds that there is an imminent risk of death or serious bodily harm, or other limited exceptions.
Email This is not a completely secure method to send personal or confidential information. If the client does not wish to use email, the client is required to advise of such in writing.
Security All personal information is stored safely and securely with encryption and password protection.
